Codere en Colombia
Codere holds a Coljuegos concession, placing it inside the licensed group of roughly fifteen operators alongside Betplay, Rushbet and Betano. It is not where most Colombian bettors end up — the domestically branded operators dominate — but the concession carries identical protections, including a Colombian dispute route and ISP blocking of unlicensed rivals. Funding through PSE and Nequi settles without the card friction that offshore sites tend to bring here.
Alternativas en Colombia
Codere prices at about 5.8%. The cheapest alternative available in Colombia is Betano at roughly 4.8% — a gap of 1.0 points on every bet you place.
Codere en Colombia — preguntas frecuentes
Is Codere legal in Colombia?
Codere operates in Colombia under Coljuegos concession. Colombia legalised online gambling in 2016 and remains the region’s most established regulated market. Only Coljuegos-licensed operators may serve Colombian residents — every operator listed here holds that licence.
What is the minimum age to bet with Codere in Colombia?
18. That is the legal minimum for online betting in Colombia, and licensed operators must verify it before you can stake.
Which currency does a Codere account use in Colombia?
COP. Holding your account in the local currency avoids conversion costs on every deposit and withdrawal, which quietly add up.
Who Codere suits
Codere is a Madrid-headquartered gambling group that has been trading since 1980, built originally on physical betting and gaming halls and extended into online betting across Spain and Latin America. In the markets we list it for — Mexico and Colombia — it operates with proper authorisation: a SEGOB permit in Mexico and a Coljuegos concession in Colombia.
The account suits a Spanish-speaking bettor who values an established operator with a physical presence, wants support and a product designed in their own language, and prefers a licensed local entity to an offshore one. If you already know Codere from its betting halls, the online product is a familiar extension of that.
It does not suit anyone choosing on price or product quality. On both measures, better options are available in the same markets to the same customers.
The price problem
The margin on football runs around 5.5–6%. That is the weakest pricing of any operator we list for Colombia, and near the bottom for Mexico.
| Operator | Approximate football margin | Odds score | Available in |
|---|---|---|---|
| Betano | ~4.5–5% | 8.2 | MX, CO |
| bet365 | ~4–5% | 8.2 | MX |
| Betcris | ~5.5% | 7.4 | MX, CO |
| Codere | ~5.5–6% | 7.1 | MX, CO |
| Caliente | ~6% | 6.9 | MX |
The odds score of 7.1 is the number that holds the overall verdict down to 7.4, and it should. Our methodology weights odds at 30% because the margin is charged on every bet you place, whether it wins or loses. Over a season, betting through a 6% book instead of a 4.5% one costs a meaningful share of everything you stake — considerably more than any promotion returns.
For a Colombian customer this is a straightforward call: Betano holds the same Coljuegos licence, prices better and has the stronger product. For a Mexican customer, bet365 and Betano are both permitted and both sharper. Codere’s case has to rest on something other than value, and it does — but you should know what you are paying for it.
Mexican bettors should also note a market-wide pressure: the federal IEPS levy on betting rose from 30% to 50% of gross gaming revenue on 1 January 2026. An increase of that size flows through to customers as wider margins and thinner promotions across every permitted operator, so expect Mexican pricing to be under strain generally rather than at Codere alone.
What Codere genuinely offers
Three things justify the account for the right customer.
Licensed local operation. Codere holds authorisation in each market it serves rather than reaching customers from an offshore base. In a region where a substantial share of betting traffic goes to Curaçao-licensed operators, a Coljuegos or SEGOB-permitted entity gives a customer with a complaint an actual regulator to complain to. This is the single strongest argument for the brand.
A real retail estate. Codere’s physical presence across Spain and Latin America means the online business sits on top of a substantial regulated operation rather than existing only as a website. For customers who value being able to deal with a company in person, that is not nothing.
Spanish-language product throughout. Not a translated interface bolted onto an English product, but a book built for Spanish-speaking customers, with support to match.
Markets and product
The markets score of 7.3 describes adequate rather than generous coverage. Football leads, with basketball, tennis and regional sports behind it. The major competitions are all there and priced; the depth beyond match odds and the range of in-play propositions are both thinner than at the digital-first operators.
The platform score of 7.4 is the honest figure for a product that works without any distinction. Live betting is present and functional. Navigation is clear. Nothing crashes. But next to Betano, whose platform scores 8.8 in the same markets, it feels like a company whose instincts were formed in retail and has adapted to online rather than being built for it.
Local payment methods are supported, which matters for the same practical reasons they matter at every regional operator: cross-border card payments for gambling are unreliable in Latin America, and domestic rails are frequently the difference between a working account and an abandoned one.
The retail inheritance, and what it costs online
Codere’s history explains most of what the online product is and is not.
The company grew up running betting halls and gaming venues, a business where the competitive advantages are location, licences and staff rather than pricing engines and interface design. Those instincts carried across. Codere’s online operation is careful, compliant and conservatively run — and it competes on the things a retail business competes on, which do not include being the sharpest price on a Saturday afternoon.
The contrast with Betano is instructive because both operate under the same Colombian licence. Betano was built online first by an operator whose entire proposition is digital product and pricing, and it shows in a platform score of 8.8 against Codere’s 7.4, and in a margin roughly a point tighter. Neither company is doing anything wrong; they are simply optimised for different eras.
For a customer, the practical implication is that Codere’s advantages are structural — licensing, longevity, physical presence, Spanish-language service — and its disadvantages are the ones you pay for on every bet. Which matters more depends on whether you bet occasionally or regularly. Occasional bettors will barely notice the margin; regular ones will notice little else.
Trust, licensing and payouts
The trust score of 8.3 is the highest of the Latin American specialists here, and it is earned. Codere is licensed in each market it serves, holds a Spanish licence at home, has traded since 1980, and operates a large regulated physical business. There is no history of the payment or conduct problems that dog offshore operators.
It falls short of the tier-one European scores for the same structural reason as its regional peers: Latin American regulators are younger and their consumer dispute mechanisms less developed than the UK Gambling Commission’s or the Malta Gaming Authority’s. Colombia is the most mature of them, having regulated online gambling since 2016 — the first in the region to do so — which makes a Coljuegos licence the more meaningful of Codere’s two credentials.
The payouts score of 7.7 reflects withdrawals that arrive reliably without being quick. As with every traditional bookmaker in this comparison, expect stake limits if you win consistently; Codere manages risk the conventional way.
Verdict
Codere is a dependable, properly licensed Spanish-language operator with four decades of history and a substantial retail business behind it. If your priority is dealing with a regulated local entity rather than an offshore website, it delivers exactly that.
But it charges 5.5–6% on football in markets where operators holding the same licences charge a point and a half less and offer a better product. That is a real cost, paid on every bet, and no amount of institutional solidity offsets it for a regular bettor. Hold it if the licensing and the language matter most to you; choose Betano if value does. Head to head, Betcris vs Codere is the choice between two regional operators with much the same proposition.
7.4 / 10.
